Blade Terminals - Crimp blade terminals are solderless, single-wire electrical connections used for the termination of stranded wires. On one side of the terminals is a metal cradle that resembles a blade, into which stripped wires are inserted. On the other side is a Y-shaped connection that's attached to a power source. The wires are cold-welded to the crimp blade terminals using a special crimp tool.

These terminals are typically seen on electric lights and other fixtures around the home.

They provide gas-tight connections. This gives protection against corrosion because oxygen and moisture cannot reach the metal parts of the fixtures.

Types of crimp blade terminals

Insulated terminals have a funnel shape sleeve, made from PVC. The conductor strands are completely inserted into the crimp barrel, which prevents them from pulling out. 

Ring Terminals - A ring terminal is a short metal tube with flat washer type ring attached. The tube or barrel end of the crimp is a hollow tube where the stranded wire is inserted and crimped. The contact or connection end is a flat ring with a central hole which connects to a stud or bolt. Ring terminals are insulated or non-insulated.

An electrical crimp is a solderless electrical connection. Ring terminals are used to connect wiring to screws and studs.

Types of Ring Terminal

Crimp terminals are available in a wide variety of ring sizes and wire sizes. The CSA (cross sectional area) or AWG (American wire gauge) of the stranded wire is the most critical. The size of the stranded wire must be adequately matched to meet the amperage. The size of the ring is matched to the bolt or stud size, usually in a metric measurement.

Butt Splices - A splice connector consists of a plastic clip that has a sharp metal insert that will safely cut through the plastic insulating jackets of two wires and crimps them together. Splice Connectors are used to make quick splices or connections with two or more pieces of wire. These splices are normally crimped or soldered so that the power conducted from the source cable to the next cable is transferred at inacceptable conductivity and pull-out resistance performance level.
